TTRC initiated the sanitation program in 2019 on community request. People from Gulshan-e-Zia, Orangi contacted TTRC for shuttering, manhole covers and rectification of a sewerage line. TTRC surveyed the lane and provided technical guidance, cost estimates and materials to the community. This proved to be the first step of TTRC towards sanitation improvement in Orangi.

Since then TTRC has been providing technical support, materials (shuttering and manhole covers) and supervision in Orangi on request basis. Shuttering and manhole covers are also provided to the members of the women saving groups on request basis. Total 47 lanes have been provided support while more requests are being received by the community. After the successful implementation of sanitation work, TTRC has planned to work in more areas on request basis.
